What they do

EMERGENCY UK is the British affiliate of EMERGENCY, a global humanitarian organisation that has provided free, high-quality healthcare since 1994 to victims of war, poverty, and landmines in more than 21 countries, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Sudan, and Ukraine.

Their approach is rooted in the belief that access to life-saving medical treatment is a human right. Services span from emergency and trauma surgery, cardiology, internal medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, to rehabilitation and prosthesis production.

EMERGENCY not only delivers direct medical care but also builds and renovates healthcare facilities, trains local medical staff (including initiatives for people with disabilities and those from marginalised communities), and fosters sustainable healthcare infrastructures. Once projects become operationally independent, they are handed over to local health authorities, amplifying long-term impact.

In the UK, EMERGENCY funds raise awareness and recruit staff for these global missions.

Why we support them

Supporting EMERGENCY UK means contributing to a model of humanitarian aid that answers immediate needs while building resilient, sustainable systems for the world’s most vulnerable.

The work is inclusive by design, reaching both direct victims of war and those caught in poverty, regardless of background or political status. EMERGENCY’s legacy of constructing hospitals, training legions of local professionals, and empowering war-torn communities from within improves health and dignity, offering
hope where it is often in shortest supply.

For donors, EMERGENCY UK provides assurance of transparency, independent regulatory supervision, and a documented record of transforming devastated health systems into future-ready institutions.
