Centrepoint provides a range of accommodation from emergency and short-stay hostels to longer-term supported housing and independent living schemes to give young people a safe and stable place to live. Alongside housing, they offer a helpline, advice on housing and benefits, health and wellbeing support, and programmes that help young people into education, training, and employment so they can move on to independent adulthood.
Youth homelessness in the UK is widespread, with well over 100,000 young people a year seeking help or at risk, and Centrepoint’s research highlights tens of thousands facing homelessness in recent years. Donations and other support help fund safe accommodation, specialist support (like mental health and skills training), and policy and campaigning work that tackles the root causes of youth homelessness, making a direct difference to individual lives and pushing for systemic change.
